Shadow Box Plaque

Description

Shadow Box Plaque – It starts with a carving, and in the case of the one in the images it is teak.  The carving is personalized and finished, and is approximately 15″ square and an inch thick at it’s thickest point.

The carving is set into a shallow box with just enough depth to cover the carving when the carving is laid into it.  The box is constructed from marine finish grade maple plywood with edge banded faces to appear as solid maple.  As with many of my projects I avoid solid wood where I can as the marine grade finish plywood won’t pull, warp, or try to separate.

The carving is set atop a mirror panel with a bezel and attached both adhesively and mechanically to the case, and is topped off with a lens of clear cast acrylic 1/4″ thick.

The overall item is approximately 17 1/2″ x 17 1/2″ x 2 1/4″ and weighs around 8lbs.  The hanger on the back (provided) is ample for wall hanging.

This makes for a beautiful display and it won’t consume a lot of space, and neither will it break your bank!
